Several new trees were planted in the Grant City Park last Wednesday, October 7. The Grant Tree Advisory Board and horticulture class came together for the tree board’s second annual fall tree planting project. Students split into teams which each planted two or three trees. In total, there were eight new trees planted. Pictured above (front row, l-r): Horticulture students Dillon Overstreet, Meredith Gloy, Patricia Loy and Irvin Reyes. Jones tore down the original house that stood on the property with the help of family. They made sure to save as much wood from Flossie’s house as possible to repurpose in the new home. She started working on Flossie’s Makeover around three years ago.

Flossie’s Makeover has now housed 10 guests through Airbnb, with more spots already booked! Jones is currently working on planting flowers around the property.

Lisa Jones of Grant has spent three years renovating a small house to rent on Airbnb, which she now calls Flossie’s Makeover.

Construction crews were busy last week installing the framework for the overhead conveyor and catwalk that extends the length of the two-million bushel structure.

The project includes two 330,000 bushel bins that will allow the company to take in soybeans at the facility.  

Scoular expansion nearing completion

Since June, the Scoular grain receiving and storage site nine miles north of Grant has been a beehive of activity, especially in the last several months.
