Perkins County Schools’ February senior-of-the-month honor has been given to Emmerald Sims.
Sims is the daughter of Sam and Breanne Sims.
More than 6,700 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students have been named to the Deans’ List for the fall semester of the 2021-22 academic year.
Perkins County Elementary students will take part in the Read Across America celebration February 28-March 4 by dressing for school with a different theme each day of the week.

An out-of-control “bobsled” with (l-r): Trevor Laber, Miguel Castillo and Ryan Long nearly collides with onlookers at the Perkins County Middle School seventh and eighth grade Olympiad organized by HAL (High Ability Learners). The group has chosen several skill-testing competitions to be presented throughout the week. Monday’s event was the ski jump;Tuesday: bobsled; Wednesday: biathlon and Thursday: hockey. Hand made bronze, silver and gold medals will be presented to individual winners on Friday, with the winning class scoring a candy prize.
