On July 17, 18, 24 and 30th, Kallie Harger put a popcorn machine and ice tea to good use at her parents’ garage sale with the intention of donating money to two organizations in Perkins County. She made signs and counted out change, and had fun doing it. “I just want to help those who helped us, mom and dad!” Harger said, adding she felt very blessed. The Harger family thanks all who visited her booth. Above: Kayla Korft with the Animal Shelter accepts a $20 donation from Harger. The renovation of the 11-mile stretch of Hwy. 61 from the three-mile corner south to the Perkins/Chase County line includes the widening of each lane by two feet. In addition, the depth of the asphalt on that extra two feet will be eight inches, compared to the five-inch depth on the driving lanes. One-lane traffic is being maintained throughout the duration of the project, with the use of a pilot car. In the background, a stream of northbound traffic can be seen being led by the pilot car Monday afternoon.
