Parts of Perkins County experienced heavy rainfall last Thursday, Aug. 19, ranging anywhere from two inches to nearly four inches, according to NERain recorders and URNRD weather stations. Holyoke, Colorado suffered the brunt of the rain, recording anywhere from four inches to more than 10 inches in areas. Mobile phone weather warnings alerted area residents of a possible tornado east of Holyoke. Above, a cloud eerily resembling a hand loomed over southern Perkins County late Thursday evening. More rain came again Monday night, delivering another shower to the area.
