Perkins County Elementary school held a Veteran’s Day program Thursday, Nov. 11 complete with singing, flag waving, sign language and a slide show about students’ families who have served or are serving in the armed forces. Following the program at the elementary school was a program hosted by the American Legion Post #270 with guest speaker Ed Dunn, a US Army veteran. Grant’s Meadowlark Gallery will hold a reception from 5-7 p.m. Saturday night for the “Impact: Willa Cather” art exhibition now underway at the gallery.
Last week will be a memorable one for the members of the Perkins County Plainsmen football team as they prepared for their quarterfinal appearance in the D1 playoffs. The team, student body, parents and fans gathered for a pep rally and bonfire at the Tharp’s lot Thursday night. The rally followed a “Welcome to Fansville” theme, mimicing the Dr. Pepper commercials seen on college football Saturdays. Here, young Callum Mayer, son of Brad and Shelby Mayer of Grant, “flipped” over the Plainsmen team’s success this season as the team looked on.
